Awards Night

Last Monday 16 December the club held its Annual Awards Night and Christmas Party.

It was a very enjoyable evening I’m sure all members will want to join me in thanking Nan and Keith for their magnificent efforts this year in presenting the event.

It was especially gratifying to see that so many of our newer members were successful and won cups, something that bodes well for the future. It was also a year where the battle for the major honours went right to the wire.

The full results are published elsewhere on this site so I’ll not repeat them here but special mention is due to Richard Heyes who came through a close battle to secure The Photographer of the Year Award in the final competition of the year.

Also due for special mention is Margaret Keane, a fairly new member but she has had a fantastic year winning an armful of cups, taking the beginner Photographer of the Year and being promoted to the advanced section.

Finally a mention to  another new member Lynne Corcoran who amongst other successes had one of her prints accepted to an external exhibition and who too is now promoted to the advance section for next year.

As always the buffet at the break was very well received and thanks go to the members who organised it and provided the food.

Keith Stewart can always be relied upon to produce something special. This year’s quiz was something else. Its always a fun event helped along by Keith’s presentation but after suggestions last year that perhaps it was a bit easy – he got his own back this year.

Best described as a bit tricky it left a lot of us stumped but not Mike Stanley who won by a few points. Well done Mike.
