Blackpool Illuminations

Evening Trip to Blackpool Illuminations

Thursday 6th November, 2014

At the last club meeting members present expressed an interest to visit the Lights at Blackpool preferably on a Tuesday evening. Unfortunately due to the fact that the lights are turned off on 9th November and the only available Tuesday before then being a committee meeting it has not been possible for this to happen.

Venue: Central Car Park –see maps
Meet time 7.45 pm

The Illuminations are an annual Lights Festival, founded in 1879 , held each autumn in the seaside resort of Blackpool. Also known locally as The Lights or The Illuminations, they run each year from late August until early November at a time when most other English seaside resorts seasons are coming to an end. Dubbed as “the greatest free light show on earth”, they are 6 miles (10 km) long and use over one million bulbs.
