Northumberland Trip

We have just got back from the Blackburn Camera Club away days at Rennington House, on the North East coast of Northumberland. Very swish accommodation in an excellent area of interest.
Ten of us went on the trip – Seven from Blackburn and three friends from Colne, Accrington and Chorley camera clubs respectively.
All in all it was a very successful trip made more so because the weather was reasonably kind to us during our stay.
Those taking part chose to do a variety of photographic expeditions depending on their main photography interests. People either went round in groups or explored on their own – depending on their preference.
It was all very free and easy according to what one wished to do.
Photography choices, members made included birds on the Farne Islands sailing from Seahouses.
Scenic and beach and harbour photography at Bamburgh, Craster, Warkworth, Alnmouth and much more.
There were trips to Berwick-upon-Tweed and most people fitted in a visit to Lindisfarne or Holy Island as it is better known.
In the evening we tended to sit round the big kitchen table next to the Aga and swap stories or talk photography ‘shop’. We all got on well together as a group which was pleasing. The tales were interesting, informative and entertaining so there was also much hilarity and laughter.
We had one evening meal out at the local pub which offered a fantastic choice of menu, huge portions, superbly cooked and presented. Yummy!
Jeremy Malley-Smith, who is a very experienced tour guide, brought his moth trap with him and we were very privileged to get free tuition in this amazing activity. There was a large range of moths caught to study and photograph, in all shapes and sizes. It was surprising what a lot there was to learn about this undertaking and we spent two early mornings [Sat & Sun] on this fascinating and very informative project. The whole process was amazing. Thank you Jeremy.
Hopefully there will be pictures put up on site eventually by those who took part, I have added a few from the trip below..
Everyone who took part contributed in some way to make this a memorable and excellent club trip away, so thank you one and all – Keith S, Jim, Margaret, Keith H, Chris, Jeremy, Cliff [Colne], Alan [Accringon] and John [Chorley].
