Blackburn and Darwen Photography Club (The Club, us) is an association of like minded individuals who all share a common interest in photography. The club organises meetings, lectures and trips for its membership.

2.  What information do we collect about you?

We collect personal data about you for a number of reasons, including communicating with you, responding to requests for information, facilitating our events and also to administer our membership.
The personal data we collect is:

  • Your full name;
  • Postal address;
  • Telephone number(s);
  • Email address;
  • Details of any photography related qualifications and awards.
  • Payments made to the Club such as subscriptions.
  • Records of your correspondence with us;
  • Record of event attendance;
  • Information you may enter onto the Website; and information you share with us.
  • We will never collect sensitive personal data without your explicit consent.

3.   How will we use the information about you?

We will process your data for reasons including but not limited to:

  • To administer your club membership, deliver services, newsletters, literature and/or other materials and information you have requested from us.
  • To circulate information and/or requests for information regarding Club activities and those of similar organisations we have dealing with.
  • Payment processing.
  • To manage your communication preferences.
  • To comply with applicable laws and regulations, and requests from statutory agencies.

The legal basis that we rely on for processing your data is either where:

  • You have provided your consent to us using your data in a certain way;
  • It is necessary so that we can comply with a legal obligation to which we are subject;
  • It is necessary so that we can perform our obligations to you; or there is a legitimate interest in us doing so.

4.   Will we share this information with others?

We do not share, sell or rent your information to third parties for marketing purposes. We will not otherwise disclose your personal information unless required to do so by a regulatory agency or law.

We may allow our club officers and/or external providers acting on our behalf to access and use your information for the purposes for which you have provided to us (e.g. to deliver mailings, administer competitions and to process payments). We only provide them with the information they need to deliver the relevant service, and we make sure your information is treated with the same level of care as if we were handling it directly.

The information we collect from you may be transferred to and processed and/or stored at a destination outside the European Economic Area (“EEA”). If we send your personal data outside the EEA, we will take reasonable steps to ensure that the recipient implements appropriate measures to protect your information.

 

5.   Photographic Competitions

Members may submit images for entry into internal competitions and also external competitions, including but not limited to competitions managed by the Lancashire and Cheshire Photographic Union (L&CPU) and the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (PAGB).

If images contain metadata, this will be shared with other organisations where the images are used.

The Club may upload competition entries onto the Club website and social media pages, unless there is a specific request from the member for their images not to be included, these are then publicly available.

All images entered may be used in future competitions within the L&CPU, PAGB, FIAP and other external competitions.

 

6.   How do we protect the security of personal data?

We aim to ensure that there are appropriate physical, technical and managerial controls in place to protect your personal details.

 

7.   How long do we keep your data for?

We do not keep your personal data for any longer than is necessary.

If you request to receive no further marketing contact from us, we will keep some basic information about you on our suppression list to avoid sending you unwanted materials in the future.

 

8.   What if you have questions or need to make corrections to your information?

Under the UK’s GDPR regulations, you have the following rights with respect to your personal data:

Access: You have the right to request details of the information Blackburn and Darwen Photography Club holds about you. To do so, please write to us using the contact details above.

Rectification: You may ask Blackburn and Darwen Photography Club to correct or remove any information you deem to be inaccurate.

Erasure: You can request that Blackburn and Darwen Photography Club deletes your data at any time.

Restriction: You may request that Blackburn and Darwen Photography Club stop processing data about you for certain purposes. You can also opt-out of receiving all or some of our marketing communications.
